Free Tool
Overlap: A Free, Open-Source Replacement for when2meet
A free group scheduling poll I built and host. Share one link, everyone paints when they're free in their own time zone, and Overlap ranks the times that work.

Problem
Getting a group to agree on a time usually ends in a long reply-all thread or an old when2meet link. I wanted a modern replacement anyone could open from a group text on their phone, with no account to create and no ads.
02
Approach
- Kept setup to one form: pick specific dates or days of the week, then share one link.
- Built drag-to-paint availability that works on a phone, with separate Available and If needed brushes.
- Showed every viewer the grid in their own time zone, so nobody converts times by hand.
- Ranked the best time windows and listed who's missing from each, with a must-attend filter for the people the meeting needs.
- Let the organizer lock in a time, and gave everyone an .ics file or a Google Calendar link for it.
03
Outcome
- A live tool at overlap.redleg.dev that anyone can use for free. No accounts, ads or cookies.
- Source on GitHub under the MIT license, at github.com/RedLegDev/overlap.
- A poll costs close to nothing to serve, which is why I can host it for free.
- Proof of concept to live in a day.
